OpenTHC Directory: Centralized Identity for Cannabis Businesses
The OpenTHC Platform includes the OpenTHC API, and nine key service applications. Among these apps is the Directory (DIR). DIR is a public-facing service. It provides a central identity for all participants in a regulated cannabis environment. Apps reference core identity API objects from DIR. These identities provide identification context within the system, supporting reporting and operational needs.
The primary identities managed by the Directory are Licenses, Company, and Contact identities. These identities are first defined by a government agency's licensing platform. This can be DIR, or another State-contracted licensing platform.
Licenses have relationships to both Company and Contact identities. These are building blocks for distinguishing a business in a commercial cannabis system. Additionally, the API definition for these objects features a “status” parameter. This versatile parameter lets regulators track licenses, companies, or individual contacts. They can also reflect the operational or compliance state of these identities. Status is extendable to meet a state’s needs. Whatever the need, DIR permits crucial administrative oversight and enforcement by authorities.
DIR provides a foundational layer for critical relationships for Traceability reporting. Other apps define and track regulated material in the system. These include Product, Variety, Plants Inventory, and Lab Results. The data identities from other apps link to identities in DIR. Tracked receipts from both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) transactions are also reported. This links core identities with regulated material. Together, the OpenTHC Platform ensures consistent truth for activities within the regulated environment.
DIR maintains central identity for all regulatory participants. OpenTHC's goal is providing transparency in facilitating the workflows for licensees and regulators. Our staff and open source community refine this workflow. The aim is reporting quality, plus the lowest user-experience friction possible.
The Directory app serves a critical role in the OpenTHC Platform. A home for identity information in a cannabis market. DIR gives companies cohesive function with other licensees. The app also helps businesses stay informed and compliant with changing requirements. In short, DIR is another way OpenTHC leads in enabling seed-to-sale cannabis traceability.
